Foodlink’s Community Health Educators had a fun, productive summer providing edible education programming for one of Foodlink’s longtime partners; Education Success Foundation.
For several years now, Foodlink compliments ESF’s weekly programing by delivering edible education (gardening, cooking and nutrition) classes for five separate Education Success Foundation programs, reaching hundreds of area students. It was a successful summer planting container gardens, learning about edible plant parts and creating recipes that highlight fresh (sometimes local, sometimes grown on-site) ingredients!
Over five weeks this summer, Foodlink delivered 38 classes to 5 programs and reached more than 300 students!
Foodlink offers an array of Edible Education programming, delivered either virtually, in-person or with tailored recipe/activity kits. Our Edible Education recipe/activity kits have become a very popular, especially amongst area elementary students! Students receive an individual kit; recipe handout, fresh fruits and vegetables and all the supplies they need to create a recipe that compliments the Foodlink lesson plan provided.
Our team is now gearing up for the fall semester, but we’ll miss all of our amazing summer program students. We wish everyone a safe, healthy and successful start to the 2021-2022 school year!
