Foodlink’s Curbside Market on Monday delivered 100 hygiene kits to residents of the Charlotte Harbortown Apartments as part of an ongoing partnership with the Rochester Housing Authority.
This fall and into the winter, the partnership will result in 3,000 care packages for low-income households in the Rochester area. The boxes contain household items such as soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent and other personal care products.
“Foodlink is proud to partner with the Rochester Housing Authority for this hygiene kit initiative and leverage the capacity of our Curbside Market fleet to provide additional help to vulnerable populations in the City of Rochester,” said Foodlink President & CEO Julia Tedesco.
WXXI: Foodlink, RHA deliver care packages to residents in need
The purchase and delivery of the initiative was made possible by $125,000 in CARES Act funding provided to the RHA to support low-income households in the Rochester community. The RHA serves more than 22,000 households in the 5-county Greater Rochester area. Approximately 20% of those reside in 2,400+ public housing units, while others receive assistance in the form of vouchers or certificate programs.
