The Check Out Hunger Campaign is underway at Tops Friendly Markets, Hegedorns Market, Herrema’s Food Market, Lori’s Natural Food, Gates Big M and Perry Market Place. Shoppers can add a little extra to their grocery bill to support food-insecure families in our region. Customers have the option of adding $1, $2, $3, or $5 to their total when they check out. This year’s Check Out Hunger campaign runs until February 4th at Tops and February 5th for all other locations.
The US Department of Agriculture estimates that more than 34 million people are food insecure, nine million of which are children. With the community’s support, however, we can make a difference. When shopping at any participating location, simply tell your cashier you’d like to help Check Out Hunger and a donation of $1, $2, $3, or $5 will help provide money to Foodlink which in return will help provide food to those in need in our community.
“Eradicating hunger and assisting our fellow neighbors in need is part of Tops core mission so supporting this effort on an annual basis is something that we gladly stand behind,” said Kristen Hanson, Vice President of Center Store, Our Brands & Pharmacy and FeedMore WNY board member.
