The 31st annual Check Out Hunger campaign, a joint effort between Wegmans and Foodlink, has officially come to a close. We are thrilled to announce that we surpassed our goal and raised a total of $703,957.
A special shoutout to the Penfield and Newark Wegmans stores for their outstanding contributions. Penfield raised the most money overall, while Newark exceeded its goal by a remarkable 136%.
We also want to express our sincere gratitude to all the cashiers who made ‘the ask’ during the campaign. Your dedication and willingness to ask customers to donate made a significant impact. Three lucky cashiers were selected as grand prize winners, receiving $100, $250, and $500, respectively. Check out our social media channels later this month as reveal the winners!
Lastly, we couldn’t have achieved this without the incredible support of our community. Your donations — both large and small — during the campaign helped to provide more than 2.1 million meals to those facing food insecurity.
The funds raised through this campaign will directly support Foodlink’s vital food-related programs and food-banking operations across its 10-county service area. With nearly 150,000 families facing food insecurity in the region, donations are more important than ever.
