The Foodlink Community Kitchen — known for producing thousands of healthy meals on a daily basis for children in the Rochester area — just executed its largest catering opportunity yet!
Our kitchen team served as the main food vendor for Monroe County’s 21st annual Salute to Seniors event on August 22 at Ontario Beach Park. The event was included in Foodlink’s contract with the county when we took on meal service for 19 local senior sites in the area. After providing healthy meals for children for decades, we expanded to serve senior meals starting on July 1 of this year — adding approximately another 500 meals to our daily count (which traditionally exceeds 10,000/day).
The event included “live music, lunch and a day at the beach” and was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park with more than 1,000 attendees. Kudos to the kitchen team for helping to coordinate this successful event!
In the coming days and weeks, our kitchen will transition away from the Summer Meals program and back to our after-school meals, as well as serving delicious meals to vended sites, such as Rochester Prep.
