Foodlink ‘Meal Mobiles’ cruising neighborhoods this summer!

Foodlink’s “Meal Mobiles” will be circling select Rochester neighborhoods starting June 29 — serving up healthy and delicious Summer Meals for Rochester families. The program runs through Sept. 4.

The Foodlink Community Kitchen is a major provider for student meals throughout the school year before shifting into Summer Meals mode as school adjourns in late June. Traditionally, our kitchen team delivers meals to locations where students congregate and eat on site. In 2020, however, we introduced a mobile version of the Summer Meals program that operates “ice cream truck style” in select neighborhoods.

This year, you can spot our two “Meal Mobiles” in the following neighborhoods:

  • Lyell-Otis
  • 19th Ward
  • Maplewood

The vehicles also will make frequent visits to local parks, such as:

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park (353 Court St.)
  • JR Wilson Park (21 Burrows St.)
  • Aberdeen Square Park (330 Post Ave.)
  • Maplewood Park (250 Maplewood Ave.)

(Foodlink will update its list of frequent locations throughout the summer.)

There are delicious new menu items on the menu this year, such as snack wraps, quesadillas and a mini charcuterie board. All meals will be served from 11 a.m. until they are gone. Foodlink expects to distribute approximately 2,500 meals per week during the height of summer.

These meals are generously funded by Monroe County through the American Rescue Plan Act.
