Foodlink’s nutrition education demonstrations at Public Market on break through the winter

Foodlink’s popular Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables workshops at the City of Rochester Public Market has ended for the year. The workshops at the Public Market take a brief hiatus in the winter months and resume back in March.

Thursday, December 14, was the last workshop at the Public Market for the year. Chef Miya Powell made buffalo cauliflower bites for her recipe. She taught the class how to season the cauliflower, roast them in the oven and then toss them in buffalo sauce for a delicious and healthy meal. Both workshops were very well attended! As a “good bye” Chef Miya made apple crisp for those in attendance to enjoy as well.

Demonstrations take place on Thursdays at 9 and 10 a.m. in shed B at the cooking demo kitchen. Each session takes approximately 20 minutes, and guests are offered samples of the prepared recipe, which focus on seasonal fruits and vegetables that can be purchased at the market. Recipes prepared are healthy, delicious, simple, and inexpensive. Sign-ups are not required to attend a demonstration. Guests can show up, grab a seat, and enjoy the interactive nutrition workshop.

While the workshops are on a brief pause at the market, there will see be workshops held at public libraries, apartment complexes, senior centers, and more!

And, on behalf of Foodlink’s health educators, a big THANKS to all the volunteers who assisted throughout the year; and to the community for your support by attending the workshops. We wish you a happy holiday and a New Year. See you in 2024!
