Foodlink Career Fellowship Class 7 moves up to NYS Cook Apprentices

On Friday, June 16, Foodlink’s Career Fellowship Class 7 officially moved up to NYS Cook Apprentices. The Fellows successfully completed 12 weeks of in-class and on-the-job training with over 88% attendance and three industry recognized certifications in food and personal safety.

To celebrate their success and moving up, friends, family and other community members gathered at the Foodlink Community Café to enjoy small bites that were prepared by each Fellow to showcase their talent.

                                  “BIG RICH”

Prepared Richie’s Cheeseburger BBQ bites – classic mini burger with homemade BBQ sauce in a hash brown bun. “Big Rich,” chose to showcase this small bite because it was a way to show off his creativity. He said, “I am magical, my homemade sauce will make you bite your fingers.”

                                      “MARI”

“Mari,” prepared Magical Beignets – scratch made beignets with seasonal strawberry rhubarb compote. “Mari,” chose to showcase this small bite because she always makes beignets are home, but said she, “wanted to make them better and with a twist.” She added, “I am a sweet person, so I wanted to make something sweet.”

                              AMIR MUHAMMAD

He said, ” I wanted to try something out and see if other people liked it, and BOOM they loved it.”

                                   TEAGAN

Teagan, prepared Cannoli Croissants – scratch made croissants with chocolate chip cannoli filling. Tegan chose this small bite to showcase after talking to her friend Zamary.                               CHINA JACKSON

China Jackson, prepared FUN-GUYZ – Italian sausage, bacon, and gorgonzola stuffed mushrooms. She chose this bite to showcase because of the mushroom man (Saul Schuster, Career Empowerment Imitative Manager.) She said, “It was a dedication to the special learning we have had around mushrooms in the classroom!”

                                       “NAZ”
