Kreher Family Farms Donates 54,000 Eggs to Foodlink

On Tuesday, April 5, 2023, Kreher Family Farms donated 54,000 eggs to Foodlink. To put that in perspective, 54,000 eggs equates to 4,500 dozen eggs. Foodlink will use the donation to help provide fresh protein to its members. Foodlink’s members, include food pantries, community meal programs, and shelters across its 10-county service area. These eggs will help to provide thousands of meals to the community.

Kreher Family Farms joined other egg farmers across America to provide eggs to families in need ahead of spring celebrations, including Easter and Passover. 5.5 million eggs will be donated nationwide – one of the largest total egg donations in history.

“New York’s egg farmers are passionate about being good stewards and neighbors, which includes lending a helping hand, producing safe food, caring for our animals and protecting the environment for future generations,” said Natalie Kreher, Kreher Family Farms. “Sharing eggs is especially important because we know that protein has great value to those who are hungry and to the hunger relief organizations who serve them.”

“Foodlink values our partnership with Kreher Family Farms. This egg donation comes during a time of continued rising food costs, specifically protein, which has had an impact on our network,” said Morgan McKenzie, Director of Operations at Foodlink. There are over 140,000 individuals in Foodlink’s service area that are considered food insecure, the number of individuals our members serve continues to rise. Foodlink’s main focus is to distribute healthy and nutritious product, to our member food pantries and meal programs, and this donation will help us to continue that important work.”

Foodlink is thankful for its continued partnership with Kreher Family Farms. With eggs providing excellent nutritional value, Foodlink is proud to offer a healthy protein to its members.
