Spectrum Donates $5,000 to Foodlink

Spectrum donated $5,000 to Foodlink on Thursday, June 8th to support the recent rise in need for emergency food in the Rochester region.

Spectrum joined City of Rochester Council President Miguel Melendez and Foodlink representatives at the City of Rochester Public Market to highlight the donation. The check presentation followed Foodlink’s Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables (JSY), free cooking demonstration, which is offered at the market on Thursday mornings.

Foodlink’s JSY team also hosts demonstrations and workshops at local food pantries that are part of Foodlink’s network.

“Providing access to food in our neighborhoods is of the highest priority in the city of Rochester,” said Council President Miguel A. Meléndez Jr. “Foodlink provides access to healthy options in practical ways, whether through farm stands, curbside market, and now the Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables efforts. We are appreciative of the work being done to educate residents and reduce food disparities in our City and I am thankful for Spectrum’s contribution.”

“Foodlink would like to thank Spectrum for this donation. With continued support from organizations like Spectrum, Foodlink can mobilize a diverse network of community partners to meet the recent rise in food insecurity we’re seeing in the Rochester region,” said Julia Tedesco, President & CEO of Foodlink. “During a time when the need remains high across our 10-county service area, this support will help provide food to those in need of assistance.”

“Spectrum is proud to lend support to organizations, like Foodlink and the important work they do in communities,” said Camille Joseph, Group Vice President, State Government Affairs for Charter Communications. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work.”
